SYNOPSIS: Expect dry conditions throughout the day with mild temperatures. Coastal areas in Humboldt and Mendocino counties may stay cloudy as fog and low clouds linger. Inland areas will see temperatures similar to or slightly cooler than yesterday. Light winds will persist, allowing clouds to push further inland by evening.

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 56. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Partly sunny, with a high near 48. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Patchy fog. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 34. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Calm wind.

Extended Forecast: A major shift in the weather begins Thursday evening, bringing rain, gusty winds, and mountain snow. An atmospheric river is expected to last through the weekend, delivering steady rainfall. Winds could gust between 30-45 mph along ridges and coastal headlands. Rain totals from Thursday through Saturday may reach 2-4 inches, with higher amounts in elevated areas. In Eastern Trinity County, Friday morning could start with slushy conditions on mountain passes, with snow levels initially around 2,500 feet before rising. The wet pattern is likely to continue into early next week, with another storm system bringing more rain, wind, and mountain snow by Monday or Tuesday.
