SYNOPSIS: Expect heavy rain this morning as a cold front moves through, with a chance of minor street flooding in Del Norte and northern Humboldt counties. Showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms will follow this afternoon, possibly bringing small hail.

TODAY: 

Inland: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 54. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Along the Coast: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 10am, then a chance of showers between 10am and 1pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. High near 56. South southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Inland: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 7pm, then showers likely. Patchy fog after 1am. Low around 42. Light southwest wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Along the Coast: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a chance of showers between 1am and 4am, then a slight chance of rain after 4am. Low around 44. South southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Extended Forecast: Light rain will continue through the weekend and into Monday, mostly in northern areas like Del Norte and northern Humboldt, with occasional dry breaks. Rainfall amounts will generally stay light, with Humboldt seeing less than a tenth of an inch and Del Norte receiving up to half an inch. Trinity, Mendocino, and Lake counties will see minimal rain, if any. By Tuesday and Wednesday, high pressure will build, bringing drier weather and possibly dense fog in inland valleys, which could keep temperatures cooler.
