Weather & Tide Report – January 9, 2025

SYNOPSIS: Expect dry conditions with clear skies dominating most areas. Gusty northeast winds will persist in parts of southeastern Lake County this morning. Temperatures will be chilly, with lows dipping into the 30s along the coast and even into the 20s in valleys like Trinity County.

TODAY:

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 60. Light north wind.

Along the Coast: Sunny, with a high near 60. Light north northwest wind.

TONIGHT:

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 36. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. Light west northwest wind.

Extended Forecast: Dry weather continues through the weekend, with high pressure bringing mostly clear skies. A weak system on Friday may bring some clouds and light sprinkles to Del Norte County but will have minimal impact elsewhere. Inland valleys, like Ukiah and Lake County, will see temperatures in the 60s to low 70s during the day, while narrower valleys might stay cooler due to inversions and cloud cover. Breezy northerly winds could pick up Friday and linger through the weekend, especially near coastal headlands and higher elevations. Behind the system, colder air could lead to freezing or near-freezing temperatures across the region, including coastal areas, by this weekend. High pressure is expected to rebuild next week, keeping the dry trend in place.
