SYNOPSIS: Expect a few lingering showers this morning, but the rain should clear up as the day goes on. Skies will stay mostly dry, though temperatures will remain cooler than usual. Highs will reach the 50s in lower areas and 40s to low 50s in the hills.
TODAY:
Inland: A 40 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. North wind 3 to 5 mph.
Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: A 20 percent chance of showers after 1am. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 42. Calm wind.
Along the Coast: A 40 percent chance of showers after 1am. Patchy fog before 10pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 41. Calm wind becoming south southeast around 5 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Extended Forecast: A new weather system will arrive Tuesday, bringing light rain to the North Coast in the morning, along with gusty winds of 25-35 mph in exposed areas. Showers will taper off by the afternoon, and snow levels will rise to about 4,500-5,500 feet. By Wednesday night into Thursday, a colder air mass will move in, dropping temperatures significantly. Expect frost and freezing temperatures Thursday and Friday mornings, with snow levels possibly falling as low as 2,500-3,000 feet. There’s also a chance for small hail along the coast Thursday morning, depending on how the system develops.
