SYNOPSIS: Expect light showers this morning, tapering off by the afternoon. Winds will be breezy, especially along the coast and higher elevations. Temperatures will stay below normal, with highs in the 50s for valleys and 40s in the mountains.

TODAY: 

Inland: A chance of rain before 1pm, then a chance of rain after 4pm. Patchy fog before 1pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Along the Coast: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. Light west southwest wind.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: A 30 percent chance of rain before 7pm. Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 41. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Light north wind.

Extended Forecast: Another system will bring more showers from Wednesday into Thursday, with colder temperatures dropping snow levels to around 2,500-3,000 feet by early Thursday. Some coastal areas may see small hail. Winds will pick up Thursday afternoon, with gusts reaching 30-45 mph in exposed areas. By Thursday night and Friday morning, frost and freezing temperatures are likely in inland valleys, with even coastal areas dipping into the mid-30s. After that, expect mostly dry and quiet weather through the weekend, though there’s a chance of another system arriving on Sunday.
