WARNINGS:

A Flood Watch Warning is in effect from now until November 22, 10 pm. 

SYNOPSIS: Strong winds and heavy rain from an atmospheric river are impacting the region, with gusts up to 80 mph reported overnight in some areas. Winds have eased slightly in Humboldt and Del Norte counties, but gusts of up to 45 mph will continue in higher elevations of Mendocino and Lake counties. Rain will persist through the day, with brief breaks in intensity possible later.

TODAY: 

Inland: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 57. South wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 2 and 3 inches possible.

Along the Coast: Rain, mainly before 1pm. High near 55. South wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 46. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Along the Coast: Rain likely, mainly after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 46. Southeast wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Extended Forecast: The storm system will bring ongoing impacts through Friday, with strong winds and heavy rainfall continuing. A second storm will strengthen offshore Thursday, bringing even more intense rain and wind, particularly to South Humboldt and Mendocino counties. Rainfall totals could reach 4–8 inches in some areas by Friday, increasing the risk of life-threatening flash flooding, especially in already saturated locations. Main rivers, like the Eel River, are expected to reach moderate flood stage. In northeastern Trinity County, heavy snow will fall above 3,000 feet today, with treacherous conditions on highways. While rainfall is expected to ease into lighter showers by the weekend, saturated soils and swollen rivers will remain a concern. Stay alert for updates and warnings.
