SYNOPSIS: Heavy rain continues to soak the area, with rainfall rates of up to half an inch per hour. Roads are hazardous due to flooding, rockslides, and fallen trees. Strong winds, especially near the coast and on ridges, could gust as high as 60 mph. In the highest elevations of Trinity County, snow is falling but shifting to rain as temperatures rise.

Inland: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 63. South southeast wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 2 and 3 inches possible.
Along the Coast: Rain. High near 60. South southeast wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 50. Breezy, with a south southeast wind 18 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 2 and 3 inches possible.
Along the Coast: Rain. Low around 50. Windy, with a south southeast wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Extended Forecast: The atmospheric river storm will bring more heavy rain through Friday, with an additional 4 to 6 inches likely, and isolated areas seeing up to 15 inches. This raises a high risk of life-threatening flooding, especially in Humboldt and Mendocino counties, where rivers are rising quickly. Winds will remain strong tonight, with gusts up to 60 mph in exposed areas. Snow is expected at higher elevations above 5,000 feet in Trinity County but will taper off by late tonight. Rainfall will become lighter and more scattered after Friday, but showers are likely to linger into the weekend. Stay prepared for changing road and river conditions.
