Weather & Tide Report – November 5, 2024

SYNOPSIS: Cloudy skies and fog are expected along the coast and in some inland valleys this morning, but these should clear after sunrise, leaving behind some high clouds and mild temperatures. Winds will increase tonight, particularly in higher elevations and eastern Mendocino and Lake counties, raising fire weather concerns due to low humidity.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Light north northeast wind becoming north 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph.

These winds, combined with dry air, create critical fire weather conditions, particularly in Lake and interior Mendocino counties. After Wednesday night, winds will calm down for the rest of the week. Temperatures will be chilly, with potential frost or freezing conditions in southern Mendocino, Lake counties, and other northern areas like Weaverville and Hayfork. Coastal areas such as McKinleyville may also experience frost.
