SYNOPSIS: Expect typical fall temperatures today with morning fog and clouds along the coast, which will clear slightly in the afternoon. Inland areas will stay near normal temperatures for this time of year.
TODAY:
Inland: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming north northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.
Along the Coast: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 63. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 48. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Along the Coast: Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 51. Light northeast wind.
Extended Forecast: From Tuesday to Thursday, light rain is expected in Del Norte and Humboldt counties, with the highest chances for rain north of Cape Mendocino. Rainfall could be as much as half an inch or more in the far north, while Mendocino and Lake counties are likely to stay mostly dry. Winds will pick up on Thursday as a cold front moves through, bringing gusty northwest winds in the afternoon, followed by northeast winds Thursday night. These winds could bring dry air, leading to fire weather concerns on Friday and Saturday. Interior valleys may experience near-freezing temperatures later in the week as the dry air settles in.
