Weather & Tide Report – October 21, 2024

SYNOPSIS: Expect periods of moderate to heavy rain this morning in Del Norte and northern Humboldt counties, with lighter rain in southern Humboldt and western Trinity counties. Showers will taper off by the afternoon, and the weather should begin to dry out later in the day.

TODAY: 

Inland: A 40 percent chance of rain before 11am. Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 73. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Along the Coast: A 50 percent chance of rain before 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 60. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 40. North northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. North wind 3 to 7 mph.

Extended Forecast: Dry weather is expected to return on Tuesday, bringing partly to mostly sunny skies and slightly cooler-than-normal temperatures. Highs will range from 65-75°F inland and 55-60°F along the coast. A brief period of fog may form late tonight into Tuesday morning, but it won’t be widespread. This dry spell should last until Friday, when a new weather system is forecast to bring rain again, especially to Del Norte and Humboldt counties. Expect wetter and cooler conditions starting this weekend and continuing into early next week as multiple weather fronts move through.
