SYNOPSIS: Showers will gradually ease tonight, leading to calmer conditions by tomorrow morning. Expect a noticeable drop in temperatures, especially in inland areas.
TODAY:
Inland: Showers likely, mainly before 11am. Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 65. Calm wind becoming north northwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Along the Coast: Showers likely before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then a slight chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 36. North wind 6 to 8 mph.
Along the Coast: A 20 percent chance of showers before 8pm. Patchy fog before 2am, then patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 42. North northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Extended Forecast: Rain will taper off by Tuesday morning, with much cooler temperatures moving in. Inland areas may experience frost or freezing conditions, especially on Tuesday morning, with a freeze warning in effect for areas in interior Humboldt, Mendocino, and Lake counties. Winds will continue to be gusty, especially in southern Mendocino and Lake counties, where 20-30 mph gusts could occur later today, easing up by tomorrow afternoon. Some light snow is possible over high mountain passes, particularly around Scott Mountain Pass in Northwest Trinity County. Looking ahead, another round of rain is expected midweek, potentially bringing more than 2 inches of rainfall in some areas and strong winds along the coast.
