SYNOPSIS: Dry conditions are anticipated today as ridging builds
aloft. A quick passing trough will bring increased cloud cover
and a possibility of mountain showers on Tuesday. Dry weather
returns on Wednesday with temperatures warming well above normal
through Thursday.
TODAY:
Inland: Sunny, with a high near 71. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
Along the Coast: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. North northwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46. North northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. North northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph.
Extended Forecast: Northwest California will see improving weather through midweek as a departing storm system gives way to drier conditions and building high pressure. A shortwave trough may bring isolated mountain showers Tuesday evening, but widespread rain is not expected until Friday, when a frontal system arrives with cooler temperatures and a chance of light to moderate precipitation, especially in the north. Warm, dry conditions are expected Wednesday and Thursday, with some interior highs reaching into the 80s or even 90°F. Cooler, wetter weather returns over the weekend with possible high-elevation snow and morning frost in interior valleys.
