SYNOPSIS:  Residual instability could result in isolated

showers for parts of Northwest California; however, those will

diminish completely by this evening as a cold upper low progresses

south. Clearing and drying will allow for some colder overnight

lows. A sharp warmup with building high pressure can be expected

for the end of the week, followed by a chance for rain.

TODAY: 

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 63. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Along the Coast: Sunny, with a high near 56. North northwest wind 5 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. 

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 38. North northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Along the Coast:  Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 38. North northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Extended Forecast: As a high-pressure system moves into the region, light showers over Humboldt and Del Norte counties have diminished, and further showery activity is unlikely through the day. Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings are in effect for areas like Southern Mendocino and Lake counties, where subfreezing temperatures are expected, particularly in agricultural zones. Winds will pick up today, especially along the ridges and coastal headlands, with gusts reaching 18 to 25 mph. By Friday, warmer temperatures are expected, with highs 5 to 10 degrees above average, but light rain is forecast late Saturday through Monday, with the potential for moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas.
