Weather & Tides-August 14, 2025

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REPORT

Thursday, August 14th, 2025

SYNOPSIS: Warm weather will continue to rapidly decline as gusty northwest winds help pull in cooler marine air Thursday and Friday. Cool weather will continue this weekend with midlevel clouds and possibly even wetting rain for the northern half of the area.

TODAY:

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 90. North northwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Along the Coast: Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 64. North northwest wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

TONIGHT:

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 55. North wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Along the Coast: Increasing clouds, with a low around 55. North northwest wind 5 to 11 mph.

Extended Forecast: A low-pressure system over the eastern Pacific is strengthening, setting up a large-scale “Omega block” weather pattern that will bring cooler air, more clouds, and gusty winds to Northern California. Temperatures will continue to drop, with interior highs falling into the low 90s by the weekend, and northwest winds gusting 30–40 mph in some higher terrain areas. Moisture associated with this system could bring some rain—mainly along the far north coast and higher terrain of Trinity County, with only a slight chance inland and little to none in the southern half of the area. Any thunderstorms that form would likely be wet, reducing wildfire risk somewhat.
