NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REPORT
Friday, August 15th, 2025
SYNOPSIS: Warm weather will continue to rapidly decline as gusty northwest winds help pull in cooler marine air Friday. Cool weather will continue this weekend with midlevel clouds and possibly even wetting rain for the northern half of the area.
TODAY:
Inland: Sunny, with a high near 89. North northwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. North northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Increasing clouds, with a low around 60. North wind 5 to 11 mph.
Along the Coast: A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after 11pm. Patchy fog between 8pm and 11pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 58. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Extended Forecast: A deep trough moving into the Pacific Northwest is bringing cooler weather, more clouds, and gusty northwest winds to Northern California, especially along coastal ridges and west-facing interior slopes. Interior highs will dip below 90°F, while the coast stays cool and moist under a deepening marine layer. This weekend, a moisture plume similar to an atmospheric river could bring light to moderate rain—most likely along the far north coast and the higher terrain of Trinity County, where there’s also a chance of wet thunderstorms. Rain chances drop sharply farther south, with little to no meaningful precipitation expected for the southern half of the region.
