SYNOPSIS: Increasing afternoon breezes and some fire weather concerns in southern Mendocino and Lake County early this week. Warmer temperatures and minor HeatRisk concerns mid week. Much cooler temperatures and chances for light rain Friday and through the weekend.
TODAY:
Inland: Sunny, with a high near 85. North wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Along the Coast: Sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 51. North wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Along the Coast: Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 49. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Extended Forecast: High pressure is building as a weak trough exits eastward, bringing warming temperatures to inland valleys, with minor HeatRisk concerns midweek. By Friday, a stronger trough moves in, increasing winds (especially in Trinity, Mendocino, and Lake Counties) and raising fire weather concerns due to dry conditions and gusts over 35 mph. Rain chances rise Friday into Saturday, with a 50% chance of over 0.1 inches and potential thunderstorms and even light snow over high peaks. Cold morning temperatures and possible frost are expected in valley areas by the weekend under clearer skies.
