SYNOPSIS: Interior warming with generally minor HeatRisk through Thursday. Stronger coastal northerlies expected on Wednesday and Thursday. Cooler temperatures with strong west and northwest winds expected for interior valleys and ridges Thursday through Saturday.
TODAY:
Inland: Sunny, with a high near 82. North wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Along the Coast: Partly sunny, with a high near 61. North northwest wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Increasing clouds, with a low around 47. North wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. North northwest wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Extended Forecast: A period of hot weather will continue through Wednesday, with minor to moderate HeatRisk in interior valleys, particularly in northeast Trinity and Lake counties. Gusty coastal northerly winds are expected midweek, followed by strong westerly and northwesterly breezes and significant cooling on Thursday through Saturday. A slight chance of thunderstorms and light rain exists near Del Norte County on Friday, with localized fire weather concerns due to dry conditions and gusty winds. Interior temperatures are forecast to rebound starting Sunday, with a warming and drying trend into early next week.
