SYNOPSIS: Gusty and locally strong coastal northerlies through Thursday. Stronger west and northwest winds expected for the interior Thursday through Friday. Much cooler with below normal temperatures for the interior Friday and Saturday.

TODAY: 

Inland:  Sunny, with a high near 77. North northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Along the Coast: Partly sunny, with a high near 60. North northwest wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. North northwest wind 7 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. 

Along the Coast: Cloudy, with a low around 49. North northwest wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. 

Extended Forecast:   Elevated fire weather conditions are expected Thursday and Friday in Lake, eastern Mendocino, and eastern Trinity Counties due to low humidity and gusty west to northwest winds. Coastal areas will also see strong northerly winds Thursday, while inland temperatures drop significantly below seasonal averages on Friday and Saturday. Light rain is possible in Del Norte and northern Humboldt Friday afternoon and evening, with a slight chance of isolated showers lingering into the weekend. A warming and drying trend is expected early next week, potentially bringing valley temperatures back into the 90s to low 100s by midweek.
