Extended Forecast:   A deepening marine layer is bringing stratus clouds and patchy drizzle to the North Coast, with gradual clearing expected inland as a shortwave destabilizes the layer later in the day. Inland temperatures will stay near normal, with mid 80s to low 90s in valleys and cooler 50s to 60s along the coast. Breezy west-northwesterly winds, especially through channeled terrain and ridges, may combine with warm, dry conditions to produce localized elevated fire weather concerns. Heat will intensify this weekend, peaking Sunday with widespread triple-digit temperatures likely in interior valleys—particularly in Trinity County—while a potential for dry thunderstorms remains uncertain due to the variable position of an offshore upper-level low.
