SYNOPSIS: Hot and dry weather will ease very slightly over the next couple of days, but scattered thunderstorms will be likely across the interior int he afternoon and evening. Storms Monday have a slight chance to approach near the coast.
TODAY:
Inland:A slight chance of rain between 11am and 2pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Along the Coast: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. West northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Calm wind.
Along the Coast: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. West northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Extended Forecast: Hot weather peaked on Sunday, but temperatures will slightly cool as high pressure weakens and some clouds move in. Moisture and unstable air are combining to create a good chance for thunderstorms, especially Monday and Tuesday afternoons in the mountains of Trinity, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties. Some storms may bring brief heavy rain, gusty winds up to 60 mph, and dry lightning, increasing fire risk. While most activity stays inland, there’s a small chance storms could reach the North Coast, with calmer, warm, and dry weather expected later in the week.
