SYNOPSIS: Showers and possible thunderstorms expected today.
Blustery northwesterly winds to develop this afternoon into early
this evening behind a low pressure trough. Cooler weather tonight
with frost and subfreezing temperatures forecast for interior
valleys. Another frontal system will bring more rain, mountain
snow and strong gusty southerly winds on Wednesday.
TODAY:
Inland: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of showers. High near 53. Light and variable wind becoming north northwest 8 to 13 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Along the Coast: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11am, then a chance of showers between 11am and 2pm. High near 52. Breezy, with a light and variable wind becoming north northwest 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
TONIGHT:
Inland: A 20 percent chance of showers before 8pm. Patchy fog before 2am, then areas of fog after 5am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 35. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light north in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
Along the Coast: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. North northwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.
Extended Forecast: Temperatures will cool significantly tonight, with frost and subfreezing conditions likely in interior valleys. A frontal system will bring additional rain, mountain snow, and gusty southerly winds on Wednesday, with snow levels dropping to around 2500 feet. As the week progresses, another round of light showers is possible, though the weekend may bring drier and warmer conditions.
