SYNOPSIS:  General gusty winds, showers and isolated

thunderstorms with potential small hail are expected to continue

through Tuesday along with moderate to heavy downpours today and

Tuesday. Heavy mountain snow above 3000 feet elevation is

anticipated through Tuesday, as well. Lingering showers through

Wednesday, followed by dry weather for the remainder of the week

are forecast.

TODAY: 

Inland:  Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 52. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Along the Coast: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 52. Southwest wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then showers between 2am and 5am, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 5am. Low around 43. West southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Along the Coast:  Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11pm. Low around 41. West southwest wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. 

Extended Forecast: The region is experiencing continued showers and gusty winds, with gusts ranging from 25 to 40 mph, along with isolated thunderstorms that could produce small hail, particularly along the coast. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected through today and early Tuesday, with heavy mountain snow anticipated above 3,000 feet in Trinity and Humboldt counties. Snow accumulations of 7 to 12 inches are likely, with localized totals of up to 1.5 feet in higher elevations, and travel impacts are expected on various mountain highways. Lingering showers will persist through Wednesday before dry weather returns later in the week.
