SYNOPSIS:  Light to moderate showers along with gusty winds over

the higher terrain. Showers will tapper off late this afternoon,

with lingering showers through tonight. Followed by drier and

warmer conditions by mid week.

TODAY: 

Inland: Rain likely before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then a slight chance of rain after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. South southwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Along the Coast: A chance of rain before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then a chance of rain after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. West southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

TONIGHT:  

Inland:  A 20 percent chance of rain before 8pm. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Extended Forecast: Northwest California is experiencing unsettled weather due to a weak late-season storm system bringing rain showers, mountain snow, and gusty winds, with isolated thunderstorms possible this afternoon, especially in Trinity County. Showers are expected to taper off later today but may linger into the night. A shortwave ridge will build in on Tuesday, bringing slightly drier conditions and the beginning of a warming trend, with valley fog likely Tuesday night. By midweek, high pressure will lead to warmer, drier weather persisting through the end of the week.
