SYNOPSIS:  Isolated thunderstorms possible over northeast Trinity

county this afternoon and evening. Chance of light rain expected

tonight and Saturday. Strong and blustery northerly to

northwesterly winds Saturday and Sunday.

TODAY: 

Inland: Increasing clouds, with a high near 73. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Along the Coast: A 10 percent chance of rain after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Calm wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: A 20 percent chance of rain after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. North wind 6 to 8 mph.

Along the Coast:  A 50 percent chance of rain, mainly after 8pm. Cloudy, with a low around 45. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Extended Forecast: A deepening marine layer has brought widespread coastal stratus to Northwest California this morning, which should clear inland with daytime heating but may persist along the coast. Interior temperatures will cool slightly today, with a few short-lived thunderstorms possible in northeast Trinity County this afternoon. A weak front will bring light rain tonight and usher in much cooler, windier weather Saturday, with gusts up to 50 mph along coastal headlands and exposed ridges, and interior highs struggling to reach 65°F. Winds remain strong into Sunday and Monday, with frost or freezing temperatures possible in inland valleys, followed by a gradual warm-up and dry conditions through next week.
