Increasing chances for coastal stratus and fog this week. Hot

temperatures likely late week into the weekend. Temperatures are forecast to warm to triple digits Friday and Saturday in the interior valleys. Pollen counts remain high for grass and tree pollen in Humboldt County. In Mendocino County, grass pollen counts remain high.

TODAY:

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 88. Light and variable wind.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Calm wind becoming west northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. Light and variable wind.

Along the Coast:   Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 48. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Extended Forecast: High pressure is bringing a brief warming trend to interior areas today, with valley temperatures reaching the high 80s to low 90s, while coastal regions remain cooler. Stratus and fog are expected to return tonight and linger into Wednesday, followed by a weak trough that could slightly lower temperatures and bring minimal chances of thunder or rain. By late week, a Rex Block pattern, which essentially “blocks” the typical west-to-east movement of weather systems, will develop, leading to offshore flow, clear skies, and a significant heat-up in the interior, with triple-digit temperatures and elevated HeatRisk likely Friday and Saturday. Cooler weather may return Sunday as another trough moves through the Pacific Northwest, though forecast uncertainty remains.
