SYNOPSIS: Hot conditions will peak Friday and Saturday with gusty winds along the coast by Sunday afternoon. Generally warm and dry conditions will continue through the start of June.
In Humboldt and Mendocino Counties, grass pollen counts are high.
TODAY:
Inland: Sunny, with a high near 97. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Along the Coast: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 63. West northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Clear, with a low around 53. Light north wind.
Along the Coast: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 63. West northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.
Extended Forecast: A strong ridge of high pressure is bringing clear skies and intense heat to interior areas, with temperatures likely exceeding 100°F today, particularly in places like Ukiah and the Trinity River Valley. Coastal regions will remain much cooler due to a shallow marine layer and strong sea breezes. By Sunday, a mid-level trough offshore will create a strong coastal pressure gradient, driving powerful north winds—especially along exposed ridges and headlands. Although there’s a slight chance for thunderstorms as moisture moves in, but the probability remains low, with warm and dry conditions expected into early June.
