SYNOPSIS: Periods of rain and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon across the interior late this morning through this evening with locally heavy rainfall. A shower or two may make it out to the coast in the afternoon. Thursday a few showers and thunderstorms are possible over the mountains. Friday and Saturday are expected to remain dry with more rain possible Sunday and Monday with dry weather returning after that. UPDATE…Lowered the probability for rain along the coast today. Now it looks like there will just be a slight chance for a shower or two in the mid to late in the afternoon if any occur. Farther inland remains on track to see scattered showers and thunderstorms.
TODAY:
Inland: Scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Along the Coast: Isolated showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. North northwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Scattered showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. North wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Along the Coast: Isolated showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. North northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Extended Forecast: Coastal areas will likely stay mostly dry today, with just a small chance of an afternoon shower, while inland regions may see scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which could produce heavy rain and minor flooding. Fog and low clouds are causing reduced visibility along the coast and at some inland airports, but conditions should gradually improve later today. Breezy winds and occasional turbulence are possible near storms. Looking ahead, weather should calm down on Thursday and Friday, but there’s growing uncertainty about more rain and possible thunderstorms returning by Sunday or Monday.
