SYNOPSIS: Rain is expected to arrive this morning in the north,quickly spreading south across the area through the day. Additional rain and wind are expected Tuesday afternoon and overnight. Lingering showers are expected Wednesday and will off on Thursday. Dry weather is expected to return for Friday and the weekend.

TODAY: 

Inland: Rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 2pm and 5pm, then rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. High near 73. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Along the Coast: Rain, mainly before 5pm. Steady temperature around 60. Southeast wind around 7 mph becoming south southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Rain likely, mainly before 11pm. Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Light south southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Along the Coast: A 50 percent chance of rain, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south southeast in the evening.

Extended Forecast: A cold front is moving into the region, bringing rain and gusty winds—especially along the coast and higher elevations—starting early Monday in the north and spreading south through the day. Rainfall totals will vary, with up to 1.5 inches expected in northern areas and much less further south. A second, windier system is due Tuesday afternoon into the evening, likely bringing stronger gusts and lighter rain overall. By mid to late week, conditions will gradually dry out, and by the weekend, high pressure is expected to bring sunny skies, warmer inland temperatures, and possibly the season’s first frost in some colder valleys.
