SYNOPSIS: Periods of rain and thunderstorms are forecast today through mid week. Drier weather will be possible toward the end of the week, followed by another chance of rain during the weekend.
TODAY:
Inland: A chance of rain, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am. High near 79. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Along the Coast: Rain likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am. High near 70. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of rain after 8pm. Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Along the Coast: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of rain after 8pm. Patchy fog between 8pm and 11pm. Low around 58. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Extended Forecast: A weather system offshore will bring light rain to Northern California starting this morning, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms—mainly over the coastal mountains and higher terrain. Most areas will see light to moderate rain today and tomorrow, with brief heavy downpours possible in thunderstorms. Tuesday through Wednesday, more showers and thunderstorms are expected, especially inland, with lightning and gusty winds being the main concerns. Conditions are expected to dry out and warm up on Friday, but rain could return over the weekend, though it’s too early to say how much or how long it will last.
