SYNOPSIS:

  • Today through Tuesday night, high pressure brings clear skies with some valley fog; multi-layer clouds spread in tonight ahead of an approaching upper low
  • Light rain arrives Wednesday afternoon, spreading north overnight with 0.5-1 inch expected (locally higher in mountains); rain may taper Thursday with snow levels above 6,000 feet
  • Heavier, more dynamic system brings increased rainfall (1-2.5 inches) on Friday with potential for urban/small stream flooding; coastal ridges may see 60+ mph wind gusts
  • Friday night into Saturday, snow levels drop to 3,000-4,000 feet behind the front; possible isolated thunderstorms and small hail with cold air; light snow accumulations possible down to 3,500 feet
  • More rain and strong gusty winds expected continuing into early next week
