Special programs on marijuana legalization
Because of a growing need for open discussion about the economic impacts of marijuana legalization on our community, KMUD presents three Thursday night forums on the topic.
Tonight Dan Glaser will co-host a discussion on Medical Marijuana. Anna Hamilton wants to know, “Who's Going To Be The Taxman?”, Thursday, March 18th. And On Thursday, March 25thKim Nelson will broadcast excerpts from the "What's After Pot" Marijuana Economy Forum (held at Mateel Community Center on Tuesday, March 23, 6-10 pm).
All programs will air from 8 to 10pm, Thursdays, and are call-in shows.
Election Coverage on KMUD
California is holding primary elections on Tuesday, June 8. In Humboldt County voters will be choosing a District Attorney, a new Tax Assessor, and a new Sheriff. In an effort to educate and inform voters, KMUD will have the following talk shows with the candidates:
March 3: 7-8pm Civil Liberties Hour with Sheriff candidate Mike Hislop
March 10: 8:30-9:30pm Interview with Sheriff candidate Mike Downey
March 24: 8:30-9:30pm Interview with District Attorney candidate Paul Gallegos (incumbent)
March 30: 7-8pm Interview with District Attorney candidate Kathleen Bryson
March 31: 7-8pm Interview with District Attorney candidate Paul Hagen
April 7: 7-8pm Interview with 4th District Attorney candidate Allison Jackson (date not confirmed yet)
May 5: 7-8pm Interview with the Tax Assessor candidates
KMUD will also simulcast the following forums with all the candidates from the Veterans Hall in Garberville:
April 14th, 7 to 8:30 pm: Sherriff Candidates
April 28th, 7 to 8:30 pm: District Attorney candidates
Last day to register to vote in the primaries is May 24.
Journalism Classes Coming Up
The next two Community Journalism Classes will be held on Sat., March 13 and Sat., April 10.
Both classes will start at 11 am and will meet at the KMUD studio in Redway.
Community Journalism classes focus on skills required to contribute content for KMUD News Programs. All levels of interest are welcome from assisting in the News Room to covering local meetings, events, and doing interviews.
