Community Safety and Awareness Report for Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

•The Redway Community Services District appreciates the community’s ongoing water conservation efforts.  Construction on the Infiltration Gallery is underway.

•Tune in tonight from 7 to 8pm for a special program focusing on  nuclear power.  Hear updates concerning the on-going nuclear disaster in Japan, as well as more information about what’s happening here in California and through out the Country with our aging nuclear power plants and stockpiles of radioactive waste.   The program will be hosted by Robie Tenorio and Bonnie Blackberry.  Listen in, be informed, join the conversation and share information.

•And join Barbara Shults, Registered Nurse and Director of the North Coast Animal Welfare Advocacy Center, Thursday, August 11th, from 7 to 8 pm for the next edition of Animal Advocate.  Thursday’s show will focus on various local animal welfare issues, animal control and how the local budget has impacted the Humboldt County Animal Shelter. Special Guest will include Humboldt County Sheriff, Mike Downey, and Jim Ferguson, NCAWAC Treasurer.  Only through the involvement of citizens can solutions be found to the serious issues facing animal welfare today. Listeners can also tune in on-line at kmud.org.
