Community Safety and Awareness Report for Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

•Fire crews from the Bureau of Land Management are planning a prescribed fire project in the Lacks Creek area east of Arcata, in a continuing project to improve forest health and wildlife habitat.  Officials hope to complete the seven-acre project today, but the burn will be ignited only if weather allows for safe and successful burning and smoke dispersion.  Smoke is expected to travel northeast and could be visible from the community of Hoopa for a day.

•The KMUD Business Office will be closed next Thursday and Friday, November 24th and 25th, for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  KMUD thanks everyone who helped make KMUD’s Fall Pledge Drive a success, and wishes you and yours a safe and happy holiday!

•Tune in this evening at 7pm for The Computer Guys.  That’s tonight, from 7 to 8pm, right here, on KMUD.

This concludes the Community Safety and Awareness Report, which can be read online at kmud.org and heard weekdays at 11am, 3 pm, and as needed here, on KMUD.
