JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
KMUD Production Assistant
Redwood Community Radio (RCR) –KMUD-FM, KMUE-FM, KLAI-FM and 99.5FM in Shelter Cove seeks a Production Assistant to join a tremendously creative staff that serves a passionate and diverse audience and produces an unparalleled product. RCR is a dynamic, alternative and established community radio station that’s driven by a mission of public service.
The Production Assistant must have a thirst for listening to audio, a hunger for editing and a voracious appetite for producing inspiring public service announcements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for getting all public affairs programs ready for airing and all aspects of producing public service announcements
Create original promotions from writing to recording and make available for broadcasting
Support programmers for pre-recording interviews, promo’s, and special station ID’s
Providing content for website regarding current news programs.
Assist Program Director and Technical Director with equipment maintenance, equipment set-up, remote events and live recordings.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists other staff with on-air fundraising events.
Assists with other duties as needed or assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
At least two years Radio and On-Air production experience preferred. Knowledge of FCC requirements, familiarity with digital audio editing and basic sound standards are a must. Ability to work well with diverse personalities. Must have the ability to project a professional image both in person and via telephone and email; and to work independently in the absence of supervision; understand and follow oral and written directions. Show ability to work with diverse personalities; prioritize workload effectively; manage multiple tasks; compose correspondence.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Program Manager
Responsible to: General Manager and Program Director
Interrelationships: Maintains good relationships with On-Air programmers, all paid staff, volunteers, RCR members, and community members.
This is a part-time, 20 hours/week non-exempt position with holiday, sick and vacation benefits. The Production Assistant serves at will in accordance with RCR by-laws. Salary range is $12-14 an hour.
