POP Serves 3rd Search Warrant at G Street Residence – 2 Arrested (Again) on Felony Drug Charges

According to a press release from the Eureka Police Dept., dated 2/26/2011:
On 02/26/11, at about 1:45 PM, Detectives with the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) served a search warrant for drug sales at an apartment located in the 500 block of G Street, Eureka. The warrant was obtained in response to continuing reports of drug sales activity occurring from the apartment involving residents Michael Nathaniel McNertney (45 of Eureka) and Gloria Pearl Lindberg (23 of Eureka).  This was the third search warrant the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) has served on these subjects in the past six months.

On 8/31/10, POP executed a search warrant on McNertney, his vehicle, and his residence following a traffic stop at 7th and H Streets.  Detectives subsequently located and seized approximately 15.5 grams (gross weight—approximately ½ ounce) of tar heroin, 3 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and 45 ½ grams of marijuana packaged for sale.  McNertney and Lindberg were arrested and transported to HCCF where they were booked on charges including possession of a controlled substance for sale.  They were out on bail in that case when the second warrant was served on them.

On 10/27/10, POP detectives executed a second search warrant on McNertney, Lindberg and their residence.  Upon searching their apartment, officers located approximately 2 ½ grams of tar heroin, 2 grams of crystal methamphetamine (gross weight), drug use paraphernalia (syringes, meth pipes, “cooker spoons” etc.), 97 grams (3.4 ounces) of processed marijuana packaged for sale in 19 individual bags, 7 ½ grams of hash, and 5 pill bottles containing dozens of prescription medication pills for which they did not appear to have a prescription.  Officers also seized over $1,200.00 cash believed to be from their illicit drug sales proceeds.  Neither McNertney nor Lindberg were currently employed.  They also did not possess Prop 215 medical marijuana cards.  McNertney and Lindberg were arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked for possession of marijuana for sale, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of concentrated cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of hypodermic syringes, and unlawful possession of prescription medication.  A bail increase was also obtained for McNertney, raising his bail to $250,000.00.

McNertney and Lindberg were out of custody and awaiting trial on the original sales case when POP served this third search warrant on them.  Upon searching their apartment, Detectives located a small quantity of heroin, unlawfully possessed prescription medication (muscle relaxers), hypodermic syringes, and three hidden storage containers which were empty but appeared to have recently contained large quantities of heroin based on residue found inside of them.  Detectives also searched Lindberg’s car where they found further evidence of drug sales activity including two digital gram scales and drug packaging baggies.  Additionally, McNertney’s cell phone rang continuously while detectives were completing their search.  When a Detective answered the phone, an individual asked for “Mike” (McNertney) and sought to purchase several grams of heroin from him.  McNertney and Lindberg were arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked again for possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.  A bail increase was again obtained setting it at $100,000.00.
